Can I add their family after a merge?

Yes – and they arrive already joined. When you merge someone from the People builder or a GEDCOM file, anyone you said isn't on your tree yet is waiting on the merge page's last screen: "Check each person's details and add them one at a time – or, if you're sure, tick several and add them in one go." Press Check details to look over each person first, then add them one by one, or tick a few and add them all together. Not ready? Leave them for later – from People builder, anyone you leave stays on your People builder list. For example, say you've just merged Grandad George from a file and his brother Albert isn't on your tree – add Albert and he lands as George's brother, not on his own. Made a mistake? Each press is one save, so it can be undone like any other.

Where to find it

  • Settings (bottom row of the top bar, far right) → People builder

Only people with the "Add people" tick.

On a phone: if the Settings tabs are tucked away, press ☰ Menu (top left) first.
