Ask the family – someone nearly always knows something! Every family tree hits a brick wall now and then. Post on the Family Wall (try "Does anyone know…?") and the whole family can join in with names, dates and old stories. Got a photo with faces nobody can name? Press Who is this? and the family gets asked. And if someone on the tree is a complete mystery, the fix pages let you say you don't know who they are yet, and the question goes out in the family's email round-up. Jotting down what you already know helps too – our free family tree charts are a handy place to start. Coming soon, the People finder will search free family history record sites for you, right from a person's card.
